ABOUT

Built in Uganda. For the businesses being built here.

Rent My MBA exists because Uganda's pharmacy industry runs on people doing real work, often without the operational support that makes that work last. We close that gap — practically, locally, and without the consulting theatre.

Three principles that shape the work.

01

Pharmacy is a business.

Many owners come from clinical backgrounds and treat operations as paperwork. We treat operations as the actual product — because that's where pharmacies make or lose money.

02

Operations beats strategy.

A clear five-year plan is worthless if your inventory is wrong on Monday. We work on the layer most consultants skip — the day-to-day systems that make the strategy real.

03

Local context first.

URA, NDA, LPO financing, Ugandan supplier dynamics — these aren't footnotes, they're the work. We build advice on what's true here, not on imported playbooks.

The Founder

A pharmacist who got an MBA.

Not the other way around.

Dr. Derrick Jjuuko · Founder & Principal Consultant

Dr. Derrick Jjuuko trained as a pharmacist at Mbarara University of Science & Technology. Five years inside the Ecopharm group — first as a medical rep at Boots Pharmaceuticals, then leading Marketing & IT Operations at the parent company — before earning his MBA from the University of South Wales while still in the industry. That order matters.

Most consultants advising pharmacy businesses in Uganda have only seen one part of the chain. Rent My MBA brings together clinical training, hospital sales experience, operations leadership, and an MBA earned in the field — applied to the specific reality of running a pharmacy here.

The Story

How we got here.

The arc, in four moments.

2017

Qualified at Mbarara

BPharm from Mbarara University of Science & Technology, then a year-long internship at Mulago across oncology, burns, neurology, internal medicine, and OPD.

2018

Inside the Ecopharm group

Joined Boots Pharmaceuticals as a medical representative — specialist antibiotics and antifungals, working with prescribers across Uganda's hospital network.

2019–22

MBA, while still in the industry

Earned an MBA from the University of South Wales — consultancy- and marketing-focused — while continuing to work in pharma. Tested every concept against real operational problems.

2021–24

Rent My MBA · published

Founded the consulting practice in 2021. Three years later, published Right Solutions For Your Pharmacy — the operational playbook compiled from years inside the industry.

Approach

What working with us actually looks like.

1

We meet you where you are.

First call is 30 minutes, no charge. We figure out together whether what you need is consulting, training, or just a few hours of advice.

2

Scope is concrete.

Every engagement has a defined outcome. "Improve your operations" isn't a scope — "reduce stockouts by 50% in 90 days" is.

3

We don't pad the work.

If the answer to your question is one conversation, we'll tell you. If it's a six-month engagement, we'll tell you that too. Honesty costs less in the long run.

4

Local-first, always.

Frameworks adapted to Ugandan reality. We don't import McKinsey decks and pretend they fit.
